Ingredients

½ (17.3 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed, ¼ cup butter, ⅓ cup brown sugar, ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 pinch ground nutmeg, ¼ cup maple syrup, 4 firm pears - peeled, cored, and halved, or more as needed

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and roll puff pastry to 1/4-inch thickness before refrigerating. In a 9-inch cast iron skillet, melt butter and cook brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until dissolved, then stir in maple syrup until bubbling. Arrange pear pieces in the skillet and cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes while basting with the syrup. Top the pears with the puff pastry, tucking in the edges, and bake for 20 minutes until golden. Let cool for 5 minutes before inverting the tart onto a serving plate to serve warm.
