Ingredients

2 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts, 7 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples, 1 cup white sugar, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon salt, ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg, 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

Begin by preheating your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and placing the bottom crust into a 9-inch pie plate. In a separate bowl, stir together the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg, then spread this mixture into the pie plate. Place bits of butter over the filling, cover with the top crust, and seal the edges tightly. Slit the top crust to vent steam. Bake for 10 minutes, then lower the temperature to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) and bake for another 40 to 50 minutes until the apples are soft and the crust is golden. Let the pie cool before serving.
