Ingredients

½ cup butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 5 Granny Smith apples -- peeled, cored, quartered, and thinly sliced, 3 (9 inch) refrigerated prerolled pie crusts, 1 cup white sugar, divided, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided, ¼ cup white sugar, 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small chunks

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a 9-inch cast iron skillet in the oven, then sprinkle with brown sugar and return to the oven briefly. Arrange the first refrigerated pie crust over the sugar, top with half of the sliced apples, and sprinkle with 1/2 cup white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Layer a second pie crust over the apples, add the remaining apples, and sprinkle with another 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Place a third crust on top, sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar, and dot with 1 tablespoon of butter. Cut 4 steam slits in the top crust and bake for approximately 45 minutes until the crust is golden and apples are tender. Serve warm.
