Dutch Apple Pie with Oatmeal Streusel
Ingredients
5 cups apples - peeled, cored and sliced, ⅔ cup white sugar, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, ¼ teaspoon ground allspice, 1 (9 inch) frozen pie crust, 2 tablespoons butter, aluminum foil
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Toss sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice; transfer to a pie shell and dot with butter. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Prepare the streusel by mixing flour, oats, brown sugar, lemon zest, cinnamon, and butter until crumbly. Remove the pie from the oven, top with streusel, and reduce heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Bake for 30 to 35 more minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown, covering with foil if needed to prevent burning.
