Ingredients

4 medium apples - peeled, cored, and chopped, ¾ cup white sugar, ½ cup raisins, ½ cup chopped walnuts, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, ½ (17.5 ounce) package frozen puff pastry, thawed, 1 large egg, lightly beaten, 1 tablespoon white sugar, or to taste

Instructions

Start by preheating the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). In a bowl, toss together apples, 3/4 cup sugar, raisins, walnuts, and cinnamon to create the filling. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry and divide it into three equal parts. Place the apple mixture in the center, fold the left side over, brush with egg wash, and then fold the right side over. Score the top with diagonal cuts, brush with more egg, and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sugar. Bake the strudel for 25 to 30 minutes until it becomes golden and puffed.
