Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup milk, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 3 cups pitted tart red cherries, 1 cup white sugar, ΒΌ teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, 1 cup sugar, milk, oil, and baking powder until smooth, then pour the batter into the dish. In a separate bowl, mix cherries with 1 cup sugar and almond extract before spooning the mixture over the batter. Bake for about 30 minutes until the cake is lightly browned and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
