Plum Dumplings
Ingredients
25 Italian prune plums, 3 tablespoons sugar, 2 large potatoes, peeled and quartered
Instructions
Pit the plums and fill each with sugar. Boil, mash, and measure 1 cup of potatoes. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, then mix with the potatoes, egg yolks, and shortening to form a smooth dough. Roll out the dough, cut into rounds, and seal a plum inside each piece. Boil the dumplings in salted water for 10 minutes. Create a sauce by melting butter with brown sugar and bread crumbs, then coat the dumplings in the sauce and serve hot.
