Fresh Fig and Prosciutto Pasta Sauce
Ingredients
2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon salt, 1 cup milk, 6 thin slices prosciutto, cut into thin strips, 6 fresh figs, stemmed and quartered, 1 tablespoon lemon zest, ¼ teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning, or to taste
Instructions
Melt butter in a saucepan on low heat and whisk in flour for 2 to 4 minutes until bubbly. Add salt and slowly whisk in milk until smooth after removing from heat. Bring the sauce to a boil on the stove, then lower the heat to simmer. In a separate non-stick pan, warm the prosciutto and figs over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Incorporate lemon zest and lemon pepper into the white sauce and serve the fig and prosciutto mixture over it.
