Ingredients

5 ½ pounds apples - peeled, cored and finely chopped, 4 cups white sugar, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon ground cloves, ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Place apples in a slow cooker and top with a mixture of sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Cook covered on High for 1 hour, then reduce to Low and cook for 9 to 11 hours, stirring occasionally until thick and dark brown. Continue cooking uncovered on Low for 1 hour. Whisk if a smoother consistency is desired, then transfer to sterile containers to refrigerate or freeze.
