Homemade Apple Cider
Ingredients
10 large apples, quartered, water, to cover, ¾ cup white sugar, 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon ground allspice
Instructions
Combine apples and water in a large stockpot, ensuring they are covered by at least 2 inches. Mix in sugar, cinnamon, and allspice before bringing to a boil over medium-high heat. Let the mixture boil uncovered for 1 hour, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 2 hours. Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve, discarding the solids, and then drain it again through cheesecloth. Chill the cider in the refrigerator for about 4 hours until cold.
