Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler
Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour, 4 tablespoons white sugar, divided, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup shortening, 1 large egg, ¼ cup cold water, 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
Sift flour, sugar, and salt; cut in shortening, then add whisked egg and water to form a dough ball. Chill for 30 minutes, then roll half the dough to 1/8-inch thickness and bake in a 9x13-inch dish at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 20 minutes. Simmer peaches with juices and butter, then stir in sugar, cornstarch, and spices before pouring into the crust. Create a lattice top using the remaining dough, sprinkle with sugar and butter, and bake for an additional 35 to 40 minutes until golden.
